We were gone three days over some very rugged terrain, and we never lost a boot. There were some older cowboy-types on the trail, too, using horseshoes on their horses. When we got back to the base camp after the ride, they complained that their horses were sore from stone bruising. Our horses were fine, because the boot protected their soles from all the rocks.
